Apples and Pumpkins

We have had so much FUN beginning our Fall unit this month! The friends have been very busy exploring and learning about apples and pumpkins in the various centers and activities around the classroom.

The art center was a very popular center this month where the friends painted with apples, pumpkins, and gourds. We painted individual pumpkins, we painted pumpkins as a class, we used apples to create patterns, and so much more!

Our dramatic play center was transformed into a Farmers Market/Apple Orchard where the friends engaged in play with picking apples, making recipes with apples, and engaging in various roles of play in a market (customer, cashier, baker,etc..).

We also incorporated apples and pumpkins into our table toys/math, literacy, and science centers! The friends measured pumpkins, counted apples, identified and matched upper and lower case letters (they loved finding the letters in their names), and used various tools in the science center to observe and explore the pumpkin, gourds, and apples.

We made apple sauce as a class! The friends loved the smell but not as much the taste!

During this month we also started our weekly specials! We have loved having language group with Mrs. Robin, fine motor group with Mrs. Jen, social skills with Mrs. Sara, movement class with Mrs. Missy, and Music with Mrs. Shelly!

We had so much fun Trick or Treating today! Happy Halloween!

During the month of November, we will finish our Fall unit by exploring leaves. After leaves we will let the friends vote to see if they would rather learn about farm animals or weather.
